About me.

My name is Marcin Poholski. Born in Hamburg in 1987, I still live and work in this Hanseatic city. I completed my Bachelor of Science in computer science at the University of Lübeck, with a focus on media informatics — and have been building software for more than twelve years since.

In 2020 I was baptised. Since then, the rational, Scripture-based theology of the Socinians has become a central part of my life. Alongside my work as a software engineer I write and translate books from Latin into German, run platforms about Socinianism in German and English, and bring this theology to a wider readership.

Above all I am a seeker — constantly searching for truth, constantly questioning. Learning, for me, is not a phase but a posture: I ask, I examine, I rethink, again and again. I read Plato, Socrates and Kant not for their own sake, but because I try to live by their words — and by what Jesus taught.

Socinianism — a Christian unitarian tradition founded in the 16th century by Lelio and Fausto Sozzini, which takes reason and Scripture as the measure of faith.

Hermes-Android

„Development of an Android application for a location-based task list“

The thesis produced the prototype app Hermes-Android: a task list whose to-dos are tied to places — the device reminds you as soon as you approach the marked location. Its core is indoor positioning in building 64 of the university via Wi-Fi signals (fingerprint method), with barcode scanning as a fallback. The concept was grounded in an online survey and personas derived from it; the list syncs with the Hermes server and feeds position data to the IMIS awareness system MATe. An automatic ordering arranges tasks by deadline and priority. Examiner: Prof. Dr. Michael Herczeg · October 2012 – February 2013.
